Carol is a retired public school teacher who has lived all over the country, and settled in the Southwest Georgia area permanently in 2012 with her husband. She has two grown children who live in Tallahassee, and one perfect grand baby. She has a menagerie of animals, including cats, dogs, cows, a mule, chickens, geese, guineas (her favorite), ducks, peacocks...well, you get the picture. She also has goats, and for a few years had a business making soaps and lotions with their milk.
Gray Kicklighter, Member at Large
Gray Kicklighter is a retired school psychologist who still works part time for Grady County schools. She currently lives in Miller County, but is originally from Savannah, Ga; although most of her career was spent in Burke County in eastern Georgia. She spends her free time making art (functional and decorative pottery and acrylic paintings) under the name Jonathan-Gray Pottery and Art which is named in memory of the son she and her now late husband Allen lost in 2016. She has 2 other grown children, 3 spoiled dogs, an indoor/outdoor cat and 3 outdoor feral cats (neutered) that are fed as well as the entire local population of possums - she thinks.
Ramona Houston, CFO
Ramona Houston is a CSR at a local bank. She lives in Donalsonville with her husband Steve, youngest daughter Bonnie Jean, and an array of animals. Ramona has another daughter Lily and two sons Cody and Matthew. She also has 4 step children and 21 grandchildren. Ramona’s animal experience is vast. Ramona shadowed with Dr. Mitchell in high school at his veterinarian practice and decided to become a veterinarian herself. However, she changed her major and finished at ABAC with her Associate’s in Business Administration. Ramona returned to college and graduated with her Bachelor’s in Accounting alongside her son Cody. Though she did not become a veterinarian, her love for animals has always remained. Throughout the years, Ramona has rescued and cared for many different species and size of animals. She currently has 10 dogs, 12 cats, and 1 donkey. In her spare time, Ramona loves spending time with her family, working in the yard, and watching old tv shows.
Colleen Erskine, Public Relations/Social Media
Colleen Erskine graduated from Florida State University with her Bachelor's degree in Psychology, her Master’s degree in Counseling & Human Systems, and her Education Specialist degree in School Psychology. She currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida with her husband and young daughter. She has two cats and a dog, all rescues. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, and doing anything craft-related.
Estelle Brock, Member at Large
Estelle is from upstate NY. She has lived in St. Petersburg FL for the last decade, and recently took the big plunge into country living. She currently resides in Jakin GA with her husband and two young children. She is a collector of rescue animals on her hobby farm. Her animals consist of goats, peafowl, poultry, dogs and cats. Everyday her passion for animals grow and she is very excited to be the newest member of Animal Rescue Alliance Shelter!
Renee Shingler, Member at Large
Renee Hardage Shingler lives with her husband Ronny on the family farm in Cedar Springs. She has vast experience with animals, large and small! She has two adult children (both married) and 4 grandchildren. Her love for animals goes back to before she can remember. From baby birds to squirrels to deer, to skunks (yes, skunks!), and many more. If it’s in distress or needs a home they can find help with her, sometimes to the dismay of her family! She believes that God gave us clear instructions to help the weak and helpless (including humans and animals), and she takes that to heart.
